Things to Do

Jekyll Island Georgia

Once the private playground of America's wealthiest industrialists, Jekyll Island has opened it's charms to all comers.  A lush, serene island, without the hustle & bustle, the traffic and the high-rise clutter of many coastal resort islands, Jekyll Island is now host to newlyweds, young families, large family reunions and long-time partners looking for a quiet place to retreat.

Attractions, Restaurants and More

Golf, tennis, Summer Waves Water Park, Historic District Tours are just a few of the things that will make your vacation special on this barrier island.  The entire ocean side of Jekyll is one continuous beach from Driftwood Beach at the north end to South Beach, in sight of the renowned nature preserve Cumberland Island.

The historic Jekyll Island Club, formerly the club house of the island's millionaire owners until the late 1940's, is located on the western shore with incredible sunsets over protected marshlands that stretch to the mainland.  Many of the homes in the district are now on tour in their original splendor, either by tram, horse-drawn carriage or a simple stroll through acres of beautifully landscaped grounds.

Jekyll boasts 3 world-class, 18-hole golf courses, a newly renovated minature golf with a brand new children's park.  A bike path circles the entire island, passing parks, picnicing and of course, 10 miles of the best beaches on the Golden Isles.

Jekyll's restaurants range from fine dining at the Jekyll Island Club to the low-country boil at Sea Jay's Marina Pub, and everything in between.  Fresh catch of the day, Italian, all-you-can-eat buffet, to a prime cut steak house, to sunset dining at Latitude 31 on the Jekyll Wharf, or a moon rise repaste at Blackbeard's on the dunes overlooking the Atlantic.  You'll find a tremendous selection here or over the causeway in Brunswick, St. Simon's or Sea Island.
